Artist Bio
Wesley Matthews is a travel photographer based in Navarre Florida. His professional career began in 2020 after having a liver transplant. He strives to show the everyday life and culture of people and places. He’s recently returned from an eight-year tour of Southwest Asia to include South Korea, Japan and, Bali.
His creative journey started after a lifesaving liver transplant. During his recovery from the surgery, he began taking walks as a form of exercise and therapy. His walks around Asia sparked his interest in capturing the world around him.
Artist Statement
I want my pictures to express the day-to-day life of people across the globe. Whether it is finding a local market in the back alley of an old city or capturing a person walking to work in the early morning. I strive to capture beauty in people's daily life.
My artistic journey started after a lifesaving liver transplant. During recovery from the surgery I was also battling sobriety and PTSD from several military deployments. I started taking walks as a form of recovery and therapy. With a clear head I started seeing the beauty around me.
